It is indicated after great loss of weight, alternation between periods of gain and loss of weight, or with the passing of years when it is common that a flabby curving of the subsequent portion of the arm occurs. This is due to the excess of skin formed by its stretch during the surcharge period or turgor loss of the skin due to the aging process. Because the subsequent arm skin is relatively thin, it does not contract enough after the weight loss, resulting in excess of local skin. The brachial dermolipectomy (arm dermolipectomy) aims to remove the excess of skin providing a more natural and less flabby outline of the arm.
